Sonisphere Festival Shaping Up To Be Rather Brutal
This years Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth is shaping up to be a rockers dream come true as more and more rather loud bands continue to be announced.
Rolo Tomassi, The Chapman Family and two members of Slipknot (Corey Taylor is doing a solo performance which will probably be pretty cool and Shawn Crahan – aka Clown – has a side-project by the name of Dirty Little Rabbits who are also confirmed) join a line up that includes Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Cancer Bats, Mastodon and Dinosaur Pile-Up to name just a few.
The event runs over two days and nights, August 1st and 2nd. Sonisphere Festival Tickets are on sale now.

Linkin Park to Play Knebworth
Calling all music fans! Credit cards at the ready. This is something to get VERY excited about. Metallica (James Hetfield, pictured) and Linkin Park are teaming up to play Knebworth as part of a touring music festival.
Sonisphere will travel around Europe before finishing off with a two-day rock fest at the legendary Knebworth. Following in the footsteps of Led Zeppelin, Queen, and Oasis, Metallica will take to the stage at the 519-year home of the Lytton family.
Die hard rock fans who have found the line-ups at this summer’s music festivals a little tame will be happy to hear that Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden and the Foo Fighters are also being linked to Sonisphere.
The difference with this particular festival is that promoters plan to offer a “broad church” of rock music. Those of us who strategically plan what band on what stage you need to see at the beginning of a festival need not worry. At Sonisphere there are just two stages. When one act finishes another one starts. Ingenious!
Metallica Announces Sonisphere 2009 Festival
Metallica has issued the following statement about headlining the 2009 Sonisphere festival:
“Summer is around the bend and what would summer be without Metallica playing a few European festival shows?? This year we’re going to be part of the brand spankin’ new Sonisphere festival, the first and only touring European Rock festival which hits six cities for a total of seven shows. We hear that while the usual festival madness will be going on, Sonisphere will have two alternate stages so you don’t have to miss a minute of the music.
“Lamb of God and Mastodon are along with for the fun at all the shows and on August 1 Linkin Park will headline the first of the two Knebworth shows (we take the stage for the second one on August 2).
